Founded by Rod Kennedy in 1972, the Kerrville Folk Festival is owned by the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the support of emerging songwriters and folk music in all its forms. It is the longest-running festival of its kind in North America, and–over the course of 18 days and nights–draws 30,000 attendees from all over the world, who swarm Quiet Valley Ranch to enjoy big names and big talent.

This year’s festival–the 44th annual–runs from Thursday, May 21st, through Sunday, June 7th, and the lineup includes Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, David Crosby, Tom Rush, Peter Case, Ruthie Foster and John Fullbright, along with many more. (Click here for the full schedule.)

One particularly significant and noteworthy part of the festival is the annual Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition for emerging songwriters, which is scheduled for the first Saturday and Sunday of the festival (May 23rd and 24th). Past winners include Lucinda Williams, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keene and others.

More unique and interesting aspects include camping, campfire jam sessions, concerts and activities for kids, “Ballad Tree” song-sharing sessions, Hill Country bike rides, canoe trips on the Guadalupe, and even Sunday Folk Song Services and Saturday Shabbat Services.

Tickets and more information about the Kerrville Folk Festival can be found by visiting kerrvillefolkfestival.org or by calling (830) 257-3600.

As avid supporters of the arts and local events, Shweiki Media is excited to contribute their high-quality printing and world-class customer service to the festival.
